In 2006, The National Office of the Society of Physics Students named Augsburgās Society of Physics Students an āoutstanding chapter.” The award recognized the chapterās involvement within the Augsburg community and the scientific community as a whole.
Thirty-six declared Physics majors were a part of Augsburgās chapter of SPS during the academic year of 2004-2005. The award recognized the involvement of those students. āThe study and research of physics really is a community effort,ā said Emily Beauvais, president of Augsburgās chapter of SPS. āSPS offers a great community for physics students to get together and discuss what is going on in the field.ā
SPS has over 700 chapters and 4,500 members nationwide. Augsburgās chapter is one of fewer than ten percent of chapters honored with the award, that is, roughly one chapter per state.
