When do you need to ARRIVE on campus?

<\/a><\/b><\/p>\nYou need to arrive in time to participate in the <\/span>REQUIRED<\/b> and <\/span>MANDATORY<\/b> orientation days, and y<\/span>ou can move o<\/span>nto campus before the orientation dates (see dates in the overview above).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
If you for some reason need to move into your space <\/span>BEFORE<\/i><\/b> the specified date, please let us know (by emailing isss@augsburg.edu). We have a great team at Residence Life who are willing to accommodate students with early arrivals. <\/span>But you need to notify us.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
Make sure you buy your plane tickets to the Minneapolis\/St. Paul International Airport. It is called the<\/span> MSP Airport<\/span><\/a> and has TWO terminals. You can arrive at either one.<\/span><\/p>\n
The International Student Services and Scholars Office will be arranging airport pick-ups for students arriving internationally. And in order for us to support you upon your arrival we ask that you complete the\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\nARRIVAL – IMMigRATION AND CUSTOMS<\/h2>\n
When you arrive in the U.S., you will apply for \u201cadmission\u201d and an immigration inspector will examine your documents. <\/span>You will need to present the following documents:

Make sure you carry these documents with you in your hand luggage (not checked in your suitcase), as you will need to have access to them at ALL times.<\/b><\/p>\n

\nMandatory OrientatioN

<\/a><\/h2>\nIt is required by an immigration law that first-year F-1 students, J-1 students, and scholars must attend the International Student Orientation. Augsburg Intentional Student Orientation provides essential information to assist new international students and scholars to acclimate into the Augsburg community and make the successful cultural and academic transition into the new settings.<\/p>\n
The Orientation takes place in both fall and spring semesters before school begins. Activities and topics you can expect during the Orientation include the following:<\/p>\n

- There is a cool <\/span>Global Living Community<\/b> you can sign up to join. This means you will be living in a large apartment with students from all over the world as well as domestic students.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- During the sign up process you will be asked if you\u2019d like to join the<\/span> GradGuard renter\u2019s insurance<\/strong>.<\/span><\/a> You can absolutely DENY this option as it is expensive<\/strong><\/span> and <\/span>you are <\/b>NOT<\/b> required<\/b> to have it, however we strongly encourage you to have renter\u2019s insurance while at Augsburg to protect your belongings.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- The Residence Life website will list different dates than the dates we have given you. That is because the move-in and move-out dates are different for the domestic students. The dates we have given you are the correct ones! <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

\nHealth Insurance

<\/a><\/h2>\nHealth Insurance ENROLLMENT FORM<\/b>: <\/span>All international students (both F-1 and J-1 visa holders) are required to have ADEQUATE health insurance for the duration of their academic program at Â̲èÖ±²¥ and every day they are in the United States as an international student. More information is available on our Health Insurance Page<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
IF YOU HAVE NOT FILLED IN THE FORM YET, PLEASE COMPLETE ASAP. If you choose not to use this insurance (for a legitimate reason) you can opt out when submitting the form.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
