This timely warning aims to provide information to aid the Augsburg community in protecting themselves after a report of a serious crime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>Reported Offense: Felony Theft<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">On August 30, 2025, between 5 and 6 am, a felony theft of a student\u2019s owned iPhone, MacBook, driver\u2019s license, credit, and debit card occurred from a student\u2019s dorm room in Mortensen Hall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>Suspect Description<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">The suspect seen on security footage appeared to be a medium complexion black male, wearing a blue sweatshirt or hoodie and panda ducks which are black and white Nike shoes.\u00a0 He was later seen with similar shoes\/jeans, wearing a backpack (under his coat).\u00a0 The suspect was last viewed on security cameras on the elevator going down to the 1<\/span><span class=\"s5\"><sup>st<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0floor where he gets off the elevator and leaves through the basement level doors where he was last seen on video.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>Status<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">DPS and the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) are currently investigating this incident. Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is urged to contact MPD or Augsburg DPS at 612-330-1717.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>Reporting Incidents<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Augsburg asks its community members to report any and all concerns that may impact our campus community. We also encourage you to utilize the resources available on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/dps\"><span class=\"s6\">the DPS website<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>Safety Tips<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li5\"><span class=\"s8\">Do not invite unknown individuals to your dorm room.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li5\"><span class=\"s8\">Have a safety plan in place if you go out for the evening.\u00a0 Consider going out with a friend so that you can look out for each other.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li5\"><span class=\"s8\">Call Public Safety or the Minneapolis Police if you see any suspicious activity.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>Disclaimer<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Â̲èÖ±²¥ believes that physical descriptors alone are not a valid reason to profile or cast suspicion on any individual. When physical descriptors are included in communication to the Augsburg community, it is done so because they may reasonably assist in identifying the perpetrator of the incident. Â̲èÖ±²¥ uses perceived race and gender descriptors that are provided about a suspect only when additional characteristics (beyond clothing) are also available. Such descriptors are used in an attempt to provide the campus community with important information.
