Dear Augsburg community,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In compliance with the \u201cTimely Warning\u201d provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Campus Security Act, Â̲èÖ±²¥ Department of Public Safety is giving notice of a situation that represents a serious or continuing threat to students and employees of the University. This timely warning aims to provide information to aid the Augsburg community in protecting themselves after a report of a serious crime.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reported Offense: Felony Theft<\/span><\/h4>\n

On August 19, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Augsburg Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report that there was a felony theft of nine university-owned laptops and personal clothing items from an office space and storage cabinet on the 1<\/span>st<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0floor of Lindell. Based on camera footage, it appears the suspect also attempted to gain entry into several additional offices.<\/span><\/p>\n

Suspect Description<\/span><\/h4>\n

The suspect seen on security footage appeared to be a medium complexion black male, wearing no shirt, a grey jacket, and clutching a backpack.\u00a0 The suspect was last viewed on security cameras walking up the stairs of the Lindell Library and into the Oren Gateway Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

Status<\/span><\/h4>\n

DPS and the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) are currently investigating this incident. Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is urged to contact MPD or Augsburg DPS at 612-330-1717.<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Do not prop doors open, and ensure all doors from which you enter\/exit are securely closed behind you.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Keep your head up and always be aware of your surroundings.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Do not sit or walk with your phone\/laptop out.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Do not walk with earbuds or headphones on so you can hear what is going on around you.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • If approached in your vehicle by someone you do not know, do not open doors or roll down windows.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Call Public Safety or the Minneapolis Police if you see any suspicious activity.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
