This timely warning aims to provide information to aid the Augsburg community in protecting themselves after a report of a serious crime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Reported Offense: Burglary<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On June 14, 2025, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Augsburg Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report that there was a burglary of an office space on the ground floor of Anderson Residence Hall. Based on camera footage, it appears the suspect also attempted to gain entry into several additional offices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Suspect Description<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The suspect seen on security footage appeared to be a black male, wearing a light-colored sweatshirt with a hood, dark-colored cargo pants, and black shoes with white soles. The suspect was last seen on an e-bike heading westbound on South 8th Street.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Status<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DPS and the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) are currently investigating this incident. Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is urged to contact MPD or Augsburg DPS at 612-330-1717.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Reporting Incidents<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Augsburg asks its community members to report any and all concerns that may impact our campus community. We also encourage you to utilize the resources available on <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/dps\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the DPS website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Safety Tips<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do not prop doors open, and ensure all doors from which you enter\/exit are securely closed behind you.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keep your head up and always be aware of your surroundings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do not sit or walk with your phone\/laptop out.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do not walk with earbuds or headphones on so you can hear what is going on around you.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If approached in your vehicle by someone you do not know, do not open doors or roll down windows.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Call Public Safety or the Minneapolis Police if you see any suspicious activity.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Disclaimer<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Â̲èÖ±²¥ believes that physical descriptors alone are not a valid reason to profile or cast suspicion on any individual. When physical descriptors are included in communication to the Augsburg community, it is done so because they may reasonably assist in identifying the perpetrator of the incident. Â̲èÖ±²¥ uses perceived race and gender descriptors that are provided about a suspect only when additional characteristics (beyond clothing) are also available. Such descriptors are used in an attempt to provide the campus community with important information.
